Traveling by plane

Traveling to Gallaudet University by air is easy with three major airports serving the Washington, D.C. area: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). DCA is the closest—just 15 minutes by car or about 30 minutes via Metro (Blue or Yellow Line to Red Line at Gallery Place, then to NoMa-Gallaudet U Station). From IAD, travelers can take the Silver Line Metro directly into the city or use a shuttle or ride share. From BWI, options include the MARC train to Union Station or an airport shuttle. All three airports offer taxis, Uber, Lyft, and other ride-share services for a direct trip to campus.

Getting around

Gallaudet University is conveniently located near the NoMa-Gallaudet U station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro, just a 10–15 minute walk from campus. Union Station, a major transit hub served by Amtrak, MARC, and additional Metro and bus lines, is also nearby—approximately a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk. Attendees can use Metro, city buses, or easily hail a ride using apps like Uber, Lyft, or the local taxi service. For the most direct access to campus, enter at 800 Florida Avenue NE.

Directions to Elstad Auditorium & Field House

To get to Elstad Auditorium (Building 17) enter the main campus entrance/front gate off of Florida Avenue, at the split turn right. Elstad Auditorium (Building 17) will be the first building on your right, Field House (Building 16) is located directly next to Elstad auditorium on the right.
